His Story

Those of you who know us well probably already know the story of how we met: the Rickshaw kitchen blaze, fire truck blockage, friends ditching me, late night police chases, city skyline photos and a failed attempt at a firsthand introduction to my roomate's dog. It was truly a once in a lifetime exsperience. The best part is during this craziness, unbeknownst at the time, i was also getting to know the love of my life.
A lot of times when we tell our story we leave out our first date. The "how me met" seems to garnish all the excitment and thrill of a great story. That being said, we had a picture perfect first date, too. I met Jamie after work on Friday at her brand spank'n new city apartment on the waterfront. We walked down to Anthony's on the Pier for appetizers and drinks. Both of us had made plans post happy hour just in case things didn't work out. This was not the case. We enjoyed each other's company so much that we decided to continue this first date into the night. This included walking about 8 miles (exaggeration) to meet friends in the city, dancing to "Dancing in the Moonlight" at a piano bar, and getting that first kiss outta of the way. Truly an unforgetable start to a beautiful relastionship.

Our Story...
Her Story
I was living in Sonoma, California when my boss requested that I move to Seattle to continue my Account Manager role for the Nordstrom account. Even though I loved my life in Sonoma, I felt there was something missing, and so I barely hesitated to say yes. A couple days before I left, I even remember saying to my friend Laticia, "I just have a feeling that he's in Seattle, waiting for me." Look back, that could have turned out wrong. But it certainly did not this time! I met Jason the first Saturday I moved to Seattle, 3/23/12. We met at our mutual friend Amanda's 30th birthday party at this Karaoke Chinese restaurant (yep!). He came and sat down next to me and, although he had had quite a few drinks before his arrival, there was something I instantly liked about him. Before he left, I gave him my number. Minutes later, the Rickshaw's kitchen caught on fire! We were evacuated and, as I stood outside, Jason came up to me to ask what had happened. We ended up talking for about an hour while my car was blocked in by a fire truck. By that point, his friends had ditched him, so I offered to give him a ride. I drove him home, we got caught in a police chase (we were OK), Jason took the first picture of me with my new city, and he offered to introduce me to his roommmate's dog, Jabroni. I graciously declined. We had our first date one week later at Anthony's on the Downtown Waterfront and, the rest is a love story.

The Proposal

Jason proposed at Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington on the 4th of July, 2014. We were camping just the two of us, and had no cell reception for MILES! On Saturday, we went on a couple hikes enjoying the views of Mt. Rainier and surrounding area. As we were eating lunch at a picnic table near Narada Falls, I was talking about Lime-Infused wheat thins and he was busily cleaning up and putting things away. I was wondering what the hurry was and then noticed that he reached into our backpack and pulled out a ring box. He got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?" I forgot to say yes, so he had to ask again and of course I said yes. For 24 hours, it was just us enjoying our engagement celebration (except for the campkeepers who I had to tell!). As soon as we hit cell phone reception, I was on the phone for 6 hours straight! Jason for about 3 minutes. ;-)
